Questions Before Your First Session?

Everything you need to know about preparing for your massage, what to expect during your session, and how to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

Your massage session takes place in a warm, comfortable, and quiet room designed to help you relax. Soft music may be used during your session, and you will lie on a massage table designed for your comfort.

No. What you wear is completely up to you and should be based on your comfort level. You may undress to whatever degree feels comfortable, and you will be properly draped throughout the entire session.

Yes. You will remain properly draped throughout the session. Only the specific area being worked on will be uncovered.

No. The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, get comfortable on the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.

A typical full-body session may include the back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. Your session can be adjusted based on your individual needs and preferences.

A relaxing Swedish massage is often used as a baseline. Treatment may begin with broad, flowing strokes to help calm the nervous system and relax surface muscle tension. Pressure can then be adjusted to address areas of deeper tension. A light oil or lotion may also be used. Communication is always encouraged, so please let your practitioner know if you would like more or less pressure or if anything feels uncomfortable.

There are many different approaches to massage and bodywork, using techniques such as flowing strokes, targeted pressure, rocking movements, and work focused on specific areas of tension. Your practitioner can discuss which approach may be most appropriate for your goals and needs.

Your main job is to get comfortable and relax. You may close your eyes and let yourself unwind while your practitioner guides you through any movements that are needed. Feel free to communicate if you would like a different pressure, another blanket, or anything else that would make you more comfortable.

Many people feel deeply relaxed after a massage. Depending on the type of session and your individual needs, you may also notice reduced muscle tension, less discomfort, or a greater sense of ease. Some people feel temporarily slowed down before experiencing a renewed sense of energy. Drinking plenty of water after your session is encouraged.

Massage and bodywork may help reduce muscular tension and discomfort, support circulation, improve flexibility, ease physical and mental stress, promote relaxation, and support recovery from everyday activity. Many people also find massage helpful for sleep, concentration, anxiety, and their overall sense of well-being.

Yes. Before your session, your practitioner will ask about your general health, medications, and any relevant medical conditions. It is important to share this information so your session can be provided safely. If you are under a doctor's care, you may be advised to obtain medical clearance before receiving massage.
